FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I try the pillows before I buy them?

A: Yes! In fact, we highly encourage it. We don’t want you guessing which pillow is right for you. We invite you to visit our Aurora workshop where we have a test mattress and base set up right in the shop. You can come in, lie down, and test different pillows until you find the exact right match for your sleep style.

Q: What if I don’t know whether I need a soft, medium, or firm pillow?

A: That is exactly why we want you to visit us in person. Because we make every pillow from scratch right here, we can customize the firmness for you. By testing them on our workshop beds, we can help you find the perfect balance of support for your neck and shoulders.

Q: Can I see what goes into my pillow?

A: Absolutely. Our workshop is totally transparent. When you visit us, you aren’t just walking into a showroom—you are walking into the place where the pillows are actually made. You will see our sewing machines running, our cutting boards, and exactly how we hand-craft every product.

Q: What makes Colorado Pillows “Organic” and sustainable?

A: We use natural latex and organic Kapok (a sustainable, silk-like tree fiber). Unlike mass-produced pillows found in big-box stores, we avoid synthetic foams and harsh chemicals, ensuring you are sleeping on nature’s best materials.

Q: Do you make custom pillows with my own fabric?

A: Yes, we specialize in custom orders. If you have a specific fabric you want to use, bring it with you to the workshop. We will cut it, design it, and sew it into a custom pillow filled with our organic materials.

Q: How long does it take to get a pillow?

A: Most orders are completed within a week. Even for custom fabric requests, our local manufacturing allows us to work quickly and get your pillow to you as soon as it is finished.

Q: Do you ship out of state?

A: Yes. While we love serving our local neighbors, we can ship our pillows to customers all across the country.

Q: How do I clean my Colorado Pillow?

A: Because we use high-quality natural materials like latex and Kapok, you should never put the entire pillow in a washing machine. Our pillows feature a zippered cover that is easily removed for washing. We recommend washing the cover in cold water and air drying. For the internal fill, a simple spot clean or airing it out in the sun is all you need to keep it fresh.

Q: How do I “adjust” the pillow to my height?

A: Every Colorado Pillow comes with a discreet zipper. If your pillow feels too high or too firm, simply unzip the cover and remove some of the latex or Kapok fill until it feels perfect. We recommend saving any extra fill in a sealed bag—that way, if you ever want to firm it back up later, you have the materials ready to go.

Q: Is natural latex safe for people with allergies?

A: Yes. Our natural latex is hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and resistant to dust mites and mold. While people with severe “contact” latex allergies should always consult a doctor, our latex is encased in a thick, protective Tencel or organic cotton cover, making it a much cleaner and safer alternative to the chemical-heavy foams found in mass-produced pillows

Q: Why shouldn’t I just buy a pillow from a big furniture store?

A: Because big stores sell mass-produced pillows filled with synthetic materials, and you can’t see what’s actually inside them. When you buy from Colorado Pillows, you are getting a handcrafted, organic product made by your neighbors. If you aren’t satisfied, you can come right back to our workshop, and we will fix it or custom-remake it for you. We stand behind everything we make.
